Talking 'bout a resolution

Written to twenty five Welsh Assembly members today. I enclosed a copy of the Chronic Pain Coalition Manifesto - 5 vital signs. There is an active colaition in England and Scoltand but not here in Wales, where the situation is at least as acute.

Health is devolved to the Welsh Assembly so its here that they control the £4bn annual budget. Must be some wiggle room here surely? Considering chornic pain affects 7.8 million people in the UK (twice as many as diabetes).

I've asked each AM to scan the manifesto. Hopefully this will raise awarness and raise an interest amoung one or two.

Fingers crossed.

RAISING AWARENESS: RSD IN WALES

This is the first step to raise awareness for Regional Sympathic Distrophy in Wales. Most people will know it is what Hugh Laurie (right) in House MD suffers from.

My mum has RSD and I have been frustrated by the lack of information and support available in Wales.

There seems to be so little information available for people in Wales suffering from Regional Sympathic Distrophy.

As those suffering from it know, it is a exscrutiating nerve pain caused by an injury that results in the nerve malfunctioning. The nerve then never stops sending pain signals. This results in constant pain which needs to be treated via a cocktail of pain killing drugs.

I hope anyone else suffering from this condition will post here and begin a discussion on how we go about raising the profile of this condition in Wales and the importance of information and support within the NHS and the wider community. Post here or email me
